Defending champions Zambia secured their African Cup of Nations final berth at the expense of a determined Uganda Cranes side after edging the hosts 9-8 on post match penalties in an entertaining contest played at the 45,000 seater Namboole Stadium in Kampala.

The visitors came into this tie with a solitary goal advantage gained from the first leg played in Ndola but the hosts needed only 27 minutes to level matters, courtesy of a well taken goal from speedy striker Geoffrey Massa.
The Icelandic based forward controlled a Geoffrey Walusimbi cross from the left hand side of the field in the box and lashed a powerful shot past the hapless Kennedy Mweene who was manning the Central Africans goal.

Uganda converted their first four penalties through Geoffrey Walusimbi, Simeone Masaba, goalkeeper Dennis Onyango, and Okwi, while captain Andy Mweisigwa hit the bar.
Zambia on the other hand scored their spot kicks through Emmanuel Mayuka, Isaac Chaka, custodian Kennedy Mweene and Sinkala, with Onyango saving Katongo's effort.
This forced the duel into sudden death kicks, which the visitors triumphed after Felix Sunzu converted the ninth penalty while Patrick Ochan had his shot saved by Mweene.
The result ensures Zambia get the opportunity to retain the title during next year's tournament that kicks off in South Africa on January 19th. Meanwhile, Uganda's 34 year wait for a return to the Africa Cup of Nations continues.
